Richard Brackstone - MD & Founder of Keystone Construction Performance

Hello,

You've probably read about my decades of experience and technical capabilities on the previous pages.  So, I just wanted to give you some insight into the values that drive me.

My Values

I believe strongly in the power of culture to drive performance.  Positive leadership is grounded in respect, integrity, empathy, and open communication.  I am committed to creating inclusive, people-centric cultures that promote wellbeing, champion diversity, and empower both teams and individuals:

  • The most successful teams I have led have thrived because they operated in environments that were fair, open, accountable, and focused on continuous improvement.

  • Commercial success and people-centric leadership are not mutually exclusive, in fact the opposite, they are mutually reinforcing.

  • Well-led, supported teams - given structure, challenge, and clarity, bought into common goals and a clear vision - will out-perform those which are abused, brow beaten and down trodden - especially over the longer term.

  • I work with organisations that value professionalism and integrity, actively pursue continuous improvement, plus respect, value and develop their people, and see success not purely in financial terms - recognising that in lifting the individual, we lift the whole.

Risk Management, Consistent Delivery, and Marginal Gains are principles I strongly believe in, and which are all too often overlooked by many in the industry - with resultant negative impacts.

  • Risk management goes to the very heart of everything we do and is fundamental in our achieving success or not. Avoiding or reducing negative impacts upon your business helps to secure success.

  • Actually focusing on delivering what we set out to, and are contractually obligated to do, is critical for long-term reputation and customer satisfaction. Too often we fail to perform adequately, especially in the early stages of projects, and then seek to blame others; in reality self-harming our own performance and outcomes.

  • Marginal gains - making small, incremental improvements across many areas combines to create a noticeable improvement in overall operational and financial performance.  In an industry consistently constrained by low margins, such marginal gains are of significant importance.

If the above resonates with you, let's talk and let's work together to improve your business!
